Hifi is Paris!

Nadir Hifi, one of the sensations of the 2022/23 season, joins Paris Basketball on a 3-year contract! The Franco-Algerian point guard will energize the already explosive Parisian game: imagine the nugget counter-attacking at full speed at Carpentier or the adidas Arena… we’re already dreaming about it.

1m84, 20 years old but above all 16.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals for 15 points. As many figures as hype surrounding the arrival of France’s second-highest scorer in the league last season (behind Wembanyama, we forgive him).

Nadir turned professional in January 2022, starting to make a name for himself with his hustle and defensive intensity. He ended up not only spearheading the defense, but also mastering the attack at Le Portel: his progression is insane. Always a hard worker, first to train and last to leave the gym, his consistency and determination have led him to dream of the Euroleague, the NBA, the Eurocup… With a difficult path to success or simply to a team or training center, Nadir keeps his feet on the ground and knows the price of his long playing minutes and the responsibilities entrusted to him.

Originally from Strasbourg, he never managed to join the local training center and ended up at Lille. For various reasons, he only stayed for a year, returning to Alsace to play for the reserve team in the French National 3 league. After a good season in France’s fifth division, he joined the ESSM Le Portel training center. He finished his first season as top scorer in the Espoirs league (21 average points) and appeared for a few minutes in the professional ranks. His second season in the professional and espoir leagues showed good things, with Nadir turning in 6.8 points and 2.3 assists in the pro ranks… But that was all before this season’s explosion!

Paris’ new number 2 has moved into a whole new dimension: his team’s top scorer, fans’ darling, player of the month for December and April… Explosive, he fits in perfectly with the DNA of Paris Basketball and its fast, athletic game. A rhythm he loves, so much so that he scored 39 points and had the best rating of the season with 44.

Having joined the Algerian 3×3 team, Nadir Hifi has chosen to represent France. As a thank-you, he will be part of the France Select Team with Juhann Begarin and Ismael Kamagate, and is determined to stay on the radar of French coach Vincent Collet. And while we’re all set to see him in the blue jersey on a regular basis, his dream is to play in the Euroleague: good timing, as are we. Nadir has also registered for the NBA 2023 draft, which takes place on June 22, further proof of his meteoric rise…

When asked why he chose Paris Basketball, here’s what he had to say (and we’re touched):

“First of all, it’s the club with which I had the most feeling, the club which gave me the most interest, and the sporting project is clearly very interesting for me: I’m in the middle of growing, in the process of growing in my young career. Paris and I have the same ambitions. I also think the style of play is a very good match“.

It’s a source of pride that Paris can now count nugget Nadir Hifi among its ranks. He has set the Betclic Elite circuit alight, and is about to set the Eurocup circuit alight, as well as the Halle Carpentier and the adidas arena. Paris Basketball thinks big: signing Nadir Hifi means thinking big.
